Communicating from a Forwarded Address

If you elect to forward your GatorLink email to an address other than the GatorLink mailbox or UF Exchange (for staff), note these issues:
  1. The recipient of your email may not recognize your forwarded address. We recommend that you identify yourself by name and supply your GatorLink username when communicating with faculty members or campus services.

  2. Some email lists will receive email only from a subscribed email address. If that address is your GatorLink email address, you may need to send mail so that it appears to be from that address or send some email directly from your GatorLink mailbox. If a person moderates an email list, they may accept email from your outside address as long as you identify yourself to their satisfaction.

Setting Sender Address

Below are instructions for setting the sender email address in some popular email services. You can usually also change the sender address when sending a specific mail message.

Setting up Hotmail to Send as @ufl.edu

Setting up Gmail to Send as @ufl.edu

Setting up Yahoo Mail Address as @ufl.edu

If you have issues regarding GatorLink email forwarding, call the UF Computing Help Desk at (352)392-HELP.
