Verifying your Email Forwarding

After you supply an email forwarding address, you must verify the forwarding from that email service. For instance, if you set a forwarding address to user@hotmail.com, you must sign on to that user account in Hotmail and click the link in the verification email that is sent to Hotmail.

This ensures that the address you supplied exists, was typed correctly, and can receive email forwarded from your GatorLink email address. This is important since students are responsible for reading official notices sent to their GatorLink address.

If you do not find the verification email after supplying a forwarding address, check in your email service Junk or Trash folder. Some services require that you mark an email sender as safe in order to deliver the mail to your Inbox.

After you click on the verification link, you should see a screen confirming that your email forwarding was set in the system.

The actual forwarding of GatorLink email to the address will begin within 30 minutes of this confirmation. You may want to check your old address to catch email that was sent in the interim.

There are issues to be aware of when communicating from a forwarded address. Learn more...

If you have problems with the forwarding process, call the UF Computing Help Desk at (352)392-HELP.
